Mary F. Baca

MA, CWK, LPCC – Odyssey Counseling Staff; Allies Clinical Team

For over 30 years, Mary has dedicated herself to helping people through her profession in the field of psychology. She began Odyssey Counseling Services in 1990, launched her holistic practice Resilience Integrative Services in 2011, Allies for First Responders and after being a professional trainer for over 20 years launched Shifting Perspectives Specialized Training Institute in 2017.

In addition to her work with these companies Mary has conducted child abuse investigations for the State of New Mexico, taught psychology and criminology classes at local colleges, served as the full-time employee assistance counselor for the United States Postal Service, been a milieu director for Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center, and has been the program director for the New Mexico Teen Parent Residential Program in addition to numerous years in public service as a clinician and administrator.

One of Mary’s deepest passions is helping first responders and their families. To that end, Mary started the nonprofit Behind the Badge New Mexico in 2016 and Allies for First Responders in 2017. Mary has worked to provide comprehensive services to police, fire, emergency communications, corrections, and EMS for the past 25 years. She has strategically comprised a training team of professionals in mental health, law enforcement, fire service, emergency medical services (EMS), Chaplaincy, and dispatch/911 Operators. Mary saw an enormous need for mental health professionals trained to work with first responders and their families. Therefore, in 2016 Mary created a multitude of trainings geared towards this goal. She and her training team started delivering various trainings that promote education, mental health awareness, and resiliency in these respective fields. In 2016 she also started training holistic practitioners to provide services to these specialized populations. Her first responder and holistic teams provide services and trainings to this day.

Mary is available to help patients starting as young as age 12. She loves people and animals and feels it is her life purpose to help promote healing in both these areas.
